The following 4 years, his Vet prescribed a range of medication in stronger doses, but nothing worked and his condition worsened. Skin tests showed an allergy to house dust mites, pollen and sarcoptic mange, which meant undergoing a course of desensitizing injections, which also proved unsuccessful. He was later referred to a Homeopathic Vet who diagnosed considerable damage to his immune system due to booster vaccines and steroids. He was also referred to a Dermatologist. After years of experimental drugs and suggestions of Euthanasia, Mrs. Harmsworth at her wits end, decided to follow her own instincts and immediately took him off all conventional treatments and gave him Zaras Herbal Tea and changed his diet to home cooked meals.
Having a sceptical Vet, she thought it best not to tell him and continued to purchase the medication, but did not use them. Every time Lewis returned for his check up, the Vet was amazed with his improvement, believing the drugs were working, until Mrs. Harmsworth confessed and promptly returned all the un-used drugs (5 months supply) to prove her case. Lewiss incredible story was featured in Dogs Today magazine (April 2000), headlined Miracles Do Happen! To our astonishment, we received hundreds of letters from other dog owners, whose pets were suffering the same condition, caused from the same drugs, given the same diagnosis and unsuccessful treatments. Their pets also made remarkable recoveries once using the tea.
